a little help over here

Bloggy peeps, where can I get a super cool layout for this blog?  Anyone anyone? :)
So my work sucks and one of the IT guys told me that they are now monitoring web browsing within the company.  They will pull up reports and a list of ppl who get on Facebook, twitter, blogs, any type of social media, etc... This is so so sad new.  Doing all those things is what helped me get through work hehe.
I just got back from Target to buy things I don't need some stuff and came home to a super messy house.  This is so depressing, coming home with a dirty house and have not unpacked from our vacation.  Well, we better get our butts in gear because Steph is coming on Thursday!!!  I can't wait! I have so much stuff planned for us.  She's also going to help me organize this place, God knows I need it!!!

Tomorrow is going to be insane! I am scheduled to run 3 miles, or cross train and meet with my trainer to work on my legs.  We are meeting @ 4:50 am, that means I wake up at 4am to get my run in before she gets here.  It will be another early fun night for me.  Oh and we have some big wigs coming into work so I have to really dress up, do my hair and make up and smile all day :D  In the evening it's all about cleaning, laundry, cooking, etc...

Dinner was boring tonight- Flounder and Asparagus.  I live on the wild side in case you haven't noticed! hahaha

Back to reality

I don’t even know where to start, but overall my vacation was AWESOME. The weather was probably the best part about it! It was about 80ish degrees with a cool breeze which made it soooo easy to run 4 & 8 miles. We arrived Wednesday late night so we just went straight to bed. Thursday morning I woke up early with my future sis in law to run 4 miles of hills. OMG the weather REALLY does make a difference! We finished in a little over 40 minutes (I’m the slow one), and I still felt great! woohooo. The bf and I headed out to the city by ourselves since everyone ahd to work and go to school. We were total tourist, had no idea how to use the Metro at first but were able to figure it out easily. I have sad sad news, I somehow lost my USB cord again! All of my pics are on my regular camera and will have to buy a new cord ASAP! I didn’t take as many pics as I thought :( but I did get a few good ones. We easily walked a little over 4 miles everyday! Yesterday, I had to do my long run- 8 miles. It’s the most I’ve ever done! I finished in 1.5 hours and I couldn't’t be happier, considering all the rolling hills I’m not used to. I’m sure in Houston I would have finished in 2 hours hahaha.

California girl :)

The day before the Glenn Beck 8/28 Rally

8/28 RALLY- easily over 500, 000 ppl  (I wanted to die- crowds like that are not my favorite!)

My eating was not the best in DC. Unfortunately, I had ice cream twice and some not so good food. I am in full regret and need to learn some self control while on vacation!!! Anywho- speaking of food, My fridge is completely bare. I may have some old mushroom's, cheese, salad and deli meat, so tonight I will be spending some time @ Sam's & Kroger. I’m excited- I love grocery shopping :) I have no idea what to make for dinner this week, everything has been boring lately; salmon, flounder, veggies, sandwiches. I need to spice up my kitchen that’s for sure.

I think I’ll be weighing myself tomorrow morning, I need a reality check and kick things up to high gear. My best friend will be coming into town Thursday-Tuesday this weekend (to celebrate my bday on Friday) and I’m a little concerned with myself and the poor choices I will probably make.

I DO plan on splurging on Sprinkle’s cupcakes!! Has anyone ever had or heard of them?? I guarantee you it’ll be the best thing that’s ever slipped inside your mouth! :) Red Velvet is their signature cupcake, but there’s not one flavor I’ve tried and haven’t liked!! You can check them out @ www.sprinklescupcakes.com amazing stuff I tell ya.

I have some serious blog reading to do! Work has been so busy I’ve only visited 3 out of 3048139472378468236482 and that’s very little. Tomorrow I will be posting something a little more personal, the majority of the blogs I read are all super happy and positive, but in reality my life isn’t always like that. So I will be writing about how I ended up in Houston, left my home San Diego, and my life here so far.

Incompleteness

Is that even a word? hehe
Last night I packed all night long for my trip today. Yay! @ 2pm I'll be on vacation!! For the first time I actually organized myself and made a list of things to pack.  I'm so glad I did because that worked out well.  We had Quinoa and Salmon last night, twas delicious.  Lately, bed time for me has been around 9:30-10pm because I wake up @ 4ish am to get my run in and some weights.  Well, this morning I had 4 miles of hills and arms/shoulder.  I accidentally turned off my alarm instead of hitting snooze :(  I didn't wake up until 5:20 and new there was no way I was going to be able to be ready in time for work.  I did about 30 minutes of yoga/abs it made me sweat a little but nothing compared to an intense hill session on the treadmill. I won't have time to do it today because we have to be at the airport by 5:30.  I'm really hoping I get to do it tomorrow in DC, if not I'll just have to settle for 4P (P= Training Pace) and that's ok.  I'm a little nervous/excited about my 8 miles this weekend.  I've never ran that far and I'll be running with my future sis in law whom is a lot faster and more experienced than me. Hopefully, she'll be able to slow down a little ;)
I am sooooooooooooo looking forward to my trip, I'm excited to eat things I can't get here in Houston.  I hear their seafood is out of this world, we will just see about that.  Hopefully we will run into an awesome bakery with fresh delicious cupcakes.  My camera is fully charged and I plan to take lots of pics of my food, random things, pics of the bf and I so there can be faces to names and stuff :)  Work has been super busy and will probably be the rest of the day.  I can't wait to get my run on in a new city!  I'll probably get back on and try to fix this blog.  I wonder if there are any websites that will help with my layout?

Super quick lunch post.

My blog needs A LOT of work!! I've been using this at work and of course time is limited. When I get back from Vacation, I will do lots of upgraded and adding some fun stuff (to me at least hehe).  If you happen to stop by, say hi! :) This whole blog world can be a little intimidating.

I'm Back! kinda

I haven't blogged in over a week, I have many excuses and they're all true; been sick, lazy, unmotivated, uninterested, etc... the list goes on. This should be fun, not a chore and I need to get into the habit of "writing" everyday. I don't know how some people do it, the blogs I read all the time are updated 3 times a day with lots of good stuff. Mine probably won't be anything like that and I finally learned to accept that it's ok. I will just be me, myself and I and write about what I want. Even if that means no one reading this because it'll be boring and my food, runs and stuff will be repetitive.

Today probably isn't a good time to start because I will be on vacation tomorrow. Not much blogging will probably happen (unless there's an app on my phone I can do some quick updates on this?). We are going to Washington DC to visit the BF's bro and sis in law. I've never been & can't wait!!! To be honest, I'm a lot more excited of visiting my 2 favorite stores in the whole world. Two places I used to go religiously while living in San Diego (sigh); H&M and Trader Joe's!!! I can't believe they don't have TJ's in TX. For those of you who don't know TJ's, it's like a Whole Foods but cheaper! So yeah, my poor wallet will be doing some serious damage!!!

I'm a little worried about how my eating will go, I'll definitely be running thanks to my future sis in law ;) She's a hardcore runner too. However, she's already fit enough to where she can eat whatever she wants. It's really hard to have self control during a vacation and visiting new restaurants. I know people will say "go ahead and have a good time, splurge a little, you hardly eat this, etc.." but the truth is I splurge too much at home! I need to lose 20 more lbs to be fit and healthy and this is not going to help me! To top it off, my bff is coming next weekend for 5 days and I'll have to control myself then too! The only I splurge on are Sprinkles Cupcakes (a whole other post on that later). Anywho- I need tips, Ideas and stuff to not gain weight and not feel like a giant whale is inside my stomach. Nothings worse than being on vacation, wearing semi tight clothes and having a food baby hahaha. Ok ok, I'm done crying.. I'll be back to blog later because I have a busy day with lots and lots to do!

I did manage to get a 3 mile run this morning, now I have to TRY and find 20 minutes later today to get some leg work in. This day is insane!!! I guess I should start taking pics of my food huh :)

Uninvited on a Friday

I made some chicken soup tonight because the BF is feeling a little under the weather.  He took a nap and I ended up having dinner by myself.  It turned out to be better than I thought. I opened up grooveshark.com to listen to something that brought back a good feeling. I guess since I made chicken noodle soup I already had the "feeling" from being at home and being with my family on a cold winter night, or while I was on my death bed and mom would make it. My choice of music for the night? Cranberries and Alanis Morriset. Zombie and one of my all time favorites 'Uninvited'. It may have been played a little more that 3 times in a row hehe and that's ok because I'm by myself. Which that brought me back into another "feeling" the time I would sit at home after work on a Friday night, no party, no club, no dinners, nothing. Just me in my room, alone, listening to nothing but depressing abstract music. I wasn't depressed at all, in fact it was the happiest times of my life.  It's kind of weird how I really love that music, I've always felt that I've connected most with it and actually feel it.  I know I'm a dork. hehe Where was I? Hmmm... apparently I have a lot to say.  Maybe this whole blog thing was a good idea after all?
My typical Friday nights are really chill and call for an early bedtime, 9:30pm.  I wake up every Saturday morning @ 5, which is sleeping in for me since I'm used to waking up @ 3:50-4am.  I look forward to my long morning runs with my group, they're so fun and God knows I wouldn't be able to do this alone.  7 miles? Hell to the NO!
Tomorrow is going to be a FUN day, but I am a little nervous because I don't really want to drink.  I will be going to a bachelorett party from 5-who knows.  I normally wouldn't mind, but I work too damn hard and run so damn my to just drink in the calories I already burned.  I know I know, I don't have to drink blah blah but come on, be the only sober one at a bachelorett party? I don't think so! Well it's time to clean up the kitchen *sigh* get my stuff ready for tomorrow and head to bed in about an hour. I'm sooo FUN!! *insert sarcasm here* I leave you with my awesome playlist of the night.  See you tomorrow!

Uninvited- Alanis Morrisette
Zombie- Cranberries
Outside- Staind
Enjoy the Silence- Depeche Mode
Talk show Host- Radio Head
Carma Police- Radio Head
Unforgiven- Metallica

These are seriously my all time favs.  Good night.

Contemplating 8/13

I finally decided to start my own blog.  After reading hundreds of different ones, I think it's time I start something I've been wanting to do for a while now.  (I promise my titles won't always be lame).

My name is Simi, I’m 27 years old born and raised in Sunny San Diego, CA. I’m your typical California girl minus the bleach blonde hair, bright blue eyes, size 2 and orange colored skin. I’m what you call the “Real” kind of Cali girl, the one who has to work out so hard and eat extremely healthy to stay in shape. The one who has Dark hair, dark eyes, is not so tanned because I actually care about my skin and would rather look like a pasty vampire than a grandma at age 30.

This blog is to simply keep track of my new life out here in Houston (more on this in a bit), my running, work outs, healthy eating habits and sometimes not so healthy eating. I’ll also be writing about my thoughts, things I’ve read, reviews, friends, stuff.
In March 24, 2009 I left San Diego to move with my boyfriend who was moving to Louisiana. We were there for 6 months and it was an epic fail. (more on that on another post). We now live in Houston, TX yeehaaw! Why Houston, TX you ask? His dad lives out here and we were able to land an awesome job right away. So now, I live in Houston and I really like it. It’s completely different than Southern California that’s for sure, but it’s a nice little change. However, I miss my friends and most of all my family like crazy!
